Lil Wayne Launches “DEWeezy” Campaign with Mountain Dew

The Young Money boss’ partnership with the soft drink company includes advertisements, special appearances and a skate park to be built in New Orleans.

What do you get when you mix Lil Wayne with some Mountain Dew? DEWeezy!

That’s the name of the new advertising partnership announced on Friday (March 9) by the Blueprint Group, a leading artist development and management company, which was recently formed via the verge of Gee Roberson’s Hip Hop Since 1978 and Cortez Bryant’s Bryant Management.

While full details of the announcement will be made at the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival in Austin, Texas next week, the partnership between Weezy and Mountain Dew will include advertising, special appearances and the constructing of a skate park in Wayne’s  hometown of New Orleans.

“We are excited to partner Lil Wayne’s brand with a brand like Mountain Dew, a household name,” said Bryant, the President of Young Money and a co-CEO of Blueprint Group, via a press release statement.

Mountain Dew’s soft drinks have long been a favorite of both rappers—Busta Rhymes and Jay Electronica starred in Mountain Dew ads before—and skateboarders, which is great, considering Wayne does both.

In the past year, Weezy has shown a growing love for skateboarding, taking his board with him all over to practice tricks. According to MTV News, he’s even scheduled to be the cover boy of popular skateboard magazine, CCS.

As talk of Nike’s crown jewel the Air Yeezy 2 heats up, so does the information surrounding the shoes release date and pricing. There have been many rumors related to these shoes and the three colorways that have surfaced. Most recently, a purple color scheme hit the blogs bearing a Zoom Kobe VII theme and was later revealed to be a PE for Bryant only and likely wont see a release. Nonetheless, one of the two Yeezy 2 colorways are dropping soon according to all sources.

Although Nike has been very ”hush-hush” about the Yeezy 2′s, initial reports of a March 23rd release date are now slim to none with no official images available. Both the black and zen gray colorways have surfaced either on Kanye or Jay-Z’s feet and not too many other places. But, all indications point to a April 13th release for the zen grey colorway. The men and women that protect our country are getting a special nod from Casio America, Inc. with the release of the Solar Military Green G-Shock collection which includes three signature styles in a matte olive green color.

The GR7900KG-3, G5600KG-3 and G6900KG-3 watches are all available in the new color option while still maintaining G-Shock’s standard rugged look.

In fact, the GR7900KG has all of the above features in addition to tide/moon graph & data.

Each watch in the series has a unique case shape (square, round or oval) making them similar yet different.
